The services offered here are generally used by the operators themselves - and once a service is running and has to be cared for, it doesn't matter if it's used by one or by many. This is particularly true when such services are based on free software, whose authors have provided it free of charge to the public themselves.
Therefore, the services offered at tanstaafl.xyz are usually available free of charge. On the other hand, there are no guarantees: it's a best-effort offer. As long as everything works - and that's been the rule -, that's good - but if something doesn't work, too bad: the problem will be resolved as time permits. We also cut down service costs - by providing no (or not much in the way of) support. Die hier angebotenen Dienste werden in der Regel durch den Betreiber selbst genutzt -und wenn ein bestimmter Dienst nun einmal schon vorhanden ist, stellt es meist keinen übermäßigen Aufwand dar, wenn auch andere ihn nutzen. Das gilt umso mehr, wenn solche Dienste auf freie Software aufsetzen, deren Autoren sie ebenfalls - weil sie nun einmal da ist - der Allgemeinheit zur Verfügung stellen.
